Student Administration and Support Services:
Administration of admission and student record systems must be reliable and responsive with confidentiality of records maintained in keeping with stated policies.  Students’ rights and responsibilities must be clearly defined and understood with transparent and fair procedures for discipline and appeals. Mechanisms for academic advice, counseling and support services must be accessible and responsive to student needs.  Support services for students must go beyond formal academic requirements and include extra-curricular provisions for religious, cultural, sporting and other activities relevant to the needs of the student body.
Explanatory note about student administration arrangements and support services
Qassim University has a Deanship of Students Affairs, one of the support deanships at the University, which is devoted to serve students in all aspects, to build their characters, and to develop their abilities and diverse skills, by providing programs and various activities. Moreover, the Deanships of Students Affairs is also keen on providing guidance and counseling to the students, and help them overcome their problems because they are the hope of the nation and the cornerstone of its future. The Dean of Student Affairs manages the Deanship with the assistance of three vice deans:  the Vice Dean for Administrative Affairs, the Vice Dean for Students Services, and the Vice Dean for Female Student Affairs. The Deanship includes three directorates: student activities, administrative and financial affairs, guidance and counseling. The Deanship also administers the students’ fund, students’ accommodation and housing, female students’ transportation, nutrition, and grants. The Deanship of Student Affairs aims to achieve all that would help in the realization of the University in the service of the student community, in the promotion the concept of citizenship, in the development our students’ skills and the positive exploitation of their time in useful activities.

·         Raising the efficiency of the academic computerized system software and work to end the repeated malfunctions.
·         Speeding up contract processes with faculty members well in advance prior the commencement of study.
·         Fixing the students’ study schedules in the long term.
·         Terminating all academic work for the existing semester prior to the date of GPA calculation.
Qassim University, through the University leadership, should urgently take all necessary steps to ensure that all students are able to start classes on time at the beginning of each semester, and that the necessary human and material resources are in place to enable this to occur.
·         Developing what the Deanship of Student Affairs does in the induction process of new female and male students, ensuring this is done sub-colleges, and activating the Deanship’s e-system.
·         Introducing the library services and its effort in the induction program.
·         Developing a comprehensive program for the reception and the service of new faculty as part of the functions of the Deanship of Faculty and Personnel.
Qassim University should ensure that there is consistent, University-wide provision of orientation programs including a comprehensive introduction to:
·         the University, its facilities, its relevant policies and procedures, etc., and
·         The library system, both central and college-based, for all new students and all new staff, whether academic or administrative, in all its Colleges and campuses.
Forming a committee, from within or from outside the university, under the supervision of the Deanship of Admission and Registration for the transfer of female students’ data accurately.
Qassim University should give priority to ensuring that the records of female students still enrolled in the old programs are entered on to the EDS system.
Establishing a directorate, associated with the Deanship of Student Affairs, for the students’ rights and their duties.
Qassim University should develop and publish a fair and transparent policy for student grievances.
·         The project is under construction, but it needs support and activation in all the female and male campuses of the university and in their colleges.
·         Commissioning the Deanship of Information Technology, in coordination with the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, to work on ensuring the uninterrupted availability of the service.
·         Allowing access to the existing laboratories for service of the male and female college students to get the information and the services they need, ensuring that misuse in non-academic purposes is maintained.
·         Ensuring computer terminals in open locations that are available to male and female students in the colleges.
Qassim University should ensure that all students have access on campus to University computing and internet facilities so that they have access to information of concern to them and are able to complete online transactions relating to their enrolment and results.
·         Establishing an advisory student council at both the university level and the college level.
·         Distributing questionnaires to students to know their views and their needs.
·         Establishing a constant communication channel of through the e-site of the Deanship.
Qassim University, through its Deanship of Student Affairs, should adopt a more formal approach to planning and delivering student services, including needs analysis through consultation with students, to ensure that students have input into planning.

This standard has been studied on a specific methodology in two phases:
Phase I
Collection of data from several sources, as follows:
1.      Report of the questionnaires of faculty members, students, graduates, and a sample from the  
2.      Report of focus groups.
3.      Report of the Strategic Plan of the University.
4.      Report of Performance Indicators.
5.      Annual Reports of the University.
6.      Benchmarking report.
7.      Environmental Analysis Report (SWOT).
8.      Recommendations of the external review team.

Analysis, processing of data, and preparation of the final report for this standard.
